“FAMILY TIES” is a diptych composition depicting the hovering of the Monarch Butterfly standing for and honoring the community of the City of South Houston. This sculpture will be created over a 3D pedestal in concrete depicting flowers covered in beautiful mosaics created with community participation through a series of mosaic workshops directed by the Artist, Rosalinda Toro. The Butterflies hand crafted in steel, will have cut-outs for transparency and color filled with fused stained glass.
